Summary

The Senior Manager will be responsible for managing client relationships within your area of expertise.  Professional services of The Retiring Farmer require you to provide accounting expertise as well as wealth management support.  Managers direct the work of staff, seniors and supervisors assigned to client engagements.

Responsibilities will include providing personal and corporate tax services, retirement, estate and succession planning and as well as mentoring families on farm transitions.

You will also be the Senior Advisor providing wealth management advisory services coordinating financial planning, risk management and estate and tax planning.

Job Duties

Managing and reviewing all accounting aspects of assigned clients such as:

  • Managing and reviewing corporate tax planning, compliance engagements, government filings, corporate and personal tax planning and returns.
  • Research and analysis of a wide variety of tax issues.
  • Preparation of draft technical memos to file, instruction letters to legal counsel and client reporting letter’s to be reviewed by senior staff

 

Managing and reviewing all finance aspects of assigned clients, such as:

  • Financial Plans
  • Comprehensive Wealth Management Reports
  • Implementation and monitoring of financial plans
  • Integrating financial and tax issues with the client’s Investment Counsellor
  • Providing ongoing support and mentoring for the professional development of staff
    • Monitor team’s production and time in CRM software to ensure optimal productivity of department reporting to HR and managing partner as needed.
      • Involvement with the management team as appropriate.
    • Ensure Wealth Management compliance with all organizational standards, contractual obligations and relevant regulations.
    • Develop, recommend, and implement long and short-range goals and objectives that are consistent with organizational objectives.
    • Ensure departmental and organizational objectives are achieved.
    • Foster a deeply rooted sense of ownership, team and camaraderie within the firm.
    • Participation in business growth through the development of relationships in existing as well as new networks.
    • Remain abreast of evolving company and industry trends as well as changes in internal processes and procedures.
    • Provide cross-organizational project leadership for innovative organizational products and initiatives.
    • Other duties shall be assigned as required.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related study.
  • Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
  • Experience in Wealth Management or related field considered an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a leadership or management role in a Public Accounting Firm.
  • Provide leadership, support and guidance to the underwriting team.
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization and with external stakeholders.
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments and key business partners.
  • Excellent time and project management skills.

 

Work Conditions

  • Travel will be required.
  • Ability to attend and conduct presentations is an advantage.
  • Overtime as required.
